William Austin Tyler

William Austin Tyler, age 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at his home in Monterey, Tennessee, surrounded by those that loved him. He was born on Saturday, May 29, 1937, in Ft. White, Florida, to William Sylvester and Lois Dees Tyler. Austin was a grove caretaker and surveyor for the citrus industry in Florida. He and his wife moved to Monterey in 1991 and purchased the place he would call home for the rest of his life. He planted trees and flowers that made his yard a beautiful and peaceful place to be. He also grew an annual garden and shared all of the produce with his family and neighbors. Austin loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all his heart and was a born-again Christian. He was a kind and humble man who would give anyone in need his last dollar. He dearly loved his family and always saw that they were taken care of. He loved everyone that he met, and they loved him in return. He is survived by, his partner and companion for 26 years, Darlene Barlow 2 sons, Tommy Tyler and fiancée, Dawn Graf of Myakka City, FL William “Ken” Tyler of Monterey, TN half-brother, Lester of Lake Butler, FL sister, Carolyn Whitfield of Tampa, FL grandchildren, Amanda Tyler and David Tyler both of Plant City, FL sister-in-law, Beverly Tyler of Crossville, TN and many nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Garrett Tyler; daughter-in-law, Kathy Tyler; brothers, Tommy Lee Tyler, David E. Tyler, Johnny Tyler, Willard Tyler; sisters, Francis Byrd, Kathleen Brock; half-brother, Buck; and great grandson, Jaiden Vosburg. Special thanks to Austin’s niece, Jackie Blockes for providing such loving care during his final days. This care allowed him to be in his home when he passed, which was his final wish. Thank you to Jackie’s husband, Sam for always helping Austin with whatever repairs he needed, especially as he aged. Thank you for always spending time with him and being so good to him. Thank you to Chuck and Colleen Werner for helping with Austin and Darlene’s care. You are true family.
