Jamie Yvonne Shelton

Jamie Yvonne Shelton passed away in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family on the morning of Friday, December 12, 2025. She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Hugh Shelton Sr., her son Ryan Acuff and daughter-in-law Jennifer Acuff, her sons: Jeffrey Shelton, Matthew Shelton, and Luke Shelton, her daughter Hope Shelton, her daughter Hannah Shelton and son-in-law Nicholas Marlow, her brother Greg Wallace and sister-in-law Diane Wallace, her five grandchildren: Lindsay Acuff, Samuel Acuff, George Acuff, Jameson Shelton, and Collin Shelton, as well as her closest friend of over 40 years, Gloria Genta-Welch, and too many cherished friends and neighbors to name. Jamie Shelton (nee’ Wallace) was born September 13, 1957 in Knoxville, Tennessee to James Wallace and Joyce Grodeman. She was an avid lover of animals, history, genealogy, nature, and homesteading; passions which she taught and passed on to her children. She wiled away many a peaceful day sitting on the porch of her woodland home with her husband Hugh, surrounded by the cats and dogs she had rescued over the years, and watching her beloved herd of goats foraging in the yard, or listening to the springtime symphony of toads and crickets on the banks of her pond. Children were her greatest joy and she was never happier than when her home was filled with the tinkling laughter of small voices. She had a love for the written word and rejoiced in seeing her children learn. There was never a more diligent family historian, and thanks to her efforts the stories and names of countless cherished ancestors will live on for generations, as will her own, in the hearts and minds of those who remain. Over the course of her long and eventful life she worked as a Police dispatcher, bred fine horses, grew lush gardens, raised many children, overcame countless obstacles and hardships, aided the sick, comforted the dying, gave to the poor, and cared for innumerable animals with the gentle and humane touch that only a lifetime of devoted motherhood can endow. She drew from a well of compassion that knew no end and never hesitated to share it with those around her, and while her passing will be profoundly grieved by all that knew her, the warmth and light of her legacy will burn ever onwards in the hearts of those she loved.
