Wanda Faye Hopkins

Wanda Faye Hopkins, age 75, of Gainesboro, Tennessee, departed this life on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, in Cookeville, Tennessee. She was born in Jackson County, Tennessee, on January 30, 1949, to the late Ora Cecil and Lena McCoin Bowman Trisdale. She was a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, friend, and Christian. She valued her faith and her family above all else. Wanda was a member of Dudney’s Hill Church of Christ for most of her life. She worked as a dietary manager at the Jackson County Hospital for 36 years until it closed in 1999. During her life, she enjoyed reading, writing poems and stories, cooking, community service, traveling, and talking about her adored family. For many, her walk through life brought an example of how Christ is shown through others. As the youngest of sixteen, she had many family members to share the joys of life with. She will be remembered as a loving and caring woman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Morgan Hopkins; brothers, Louis, James, Comer, Gene, Ogle, George "Shorty", and Mack Trisdale; sisters, Irene Bowman, Olene Trisdale, Earline Trisdale, and Elise Jones; brothers-in-law, Nolan Bowman, James Jones, Charlie Martin, and Herman Martin; and sisters-in-law, Ina, Frances, Pauline, Addie, and Ruby Trisdale. Family was the centerpiece of Wanda's life. She was survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Sam Mainord of Cookeville, TN; granddaughter, Shelby Mainord of Knoxville, TN; grandson, Grant Mainord of Cookeville, TN; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles "Charbo" Trisdale of Gainesboro, TN, David and Sue Trisdale of Dexter, MI, and Margaret Netherton of Mt. Juliet, TN; sisters, Mary Martin and Stella Martin both of Gainesboro, TN; her friend who was like a sister, Kathy Martin of Gainesboro, TN; and stepchildren, Debbie (and Ralph) Richardson, Alesia (and Kyle) Bybee, and Edwin (and Delma) Hopkins all of Gainesboro, TN. She was also survived by many other family members. In her final days, Wanda stated that she was not scared of death but that she was sad to leave everyone behind. She experienced many struggles in life but focused on her eternal reward. She would want to be remembered as a Christian and for the joy she brought others. Funeral Services were conducted on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Dudney's Hill Church of Christ, 247 Dudney's Hill Lane, Gainesboro, TN, at 2:00 PM. The family received friends at Dudney's Hill Church of Christ, on Saturday, July 20, 2024, from 11:00 AM until time of funeral service at 2:00 PM. Bro. Ronnie Loftis, Bro. Sam Mainord, and Bro. Lakelan Barham officiated and interment followed in Pharris Cemetery.
