Herman Cecil Raines

Celebration of Life Services for Herman Cecil Raines, age 74, of Monterey, Tennessee, were conducted on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 7:00 PM from The Chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Debbie Stephens, Johnny Bowman, and Rev. Bobby Floyd officiated. Mr. Raines was born on Tuesday, October 25, 1949, in Monterey, Tennessee, to the late Walter Lee and Dessie Mae Williams Raines. Mr. Raines passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at his home. Mr. Raines worked in industrial maintenance, retiring from Perdue with over 28 years of service. He loved sports, coaching, and umpiring. He was a TSSAA softball, baseball, and little league umpire. He coached youth leagues for baseball, softball, football, and basketball. He was the Monterey Junior High School golf coach and was an avid golfer hitting a hole in one. He loved reading his bible and Charles Stanley devotions every day. He was survived by his wife of almost 54 years, Janet Reagan Raines of Monterey, TN; children, Jerry Raines, Russell Raines, and Kristen Raines all of Monterey, TN; grandson, Landon Raines of Monterey, TN; sister, Maxine Farley of Monterey, TN; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Shirley Raines of Dunlap, TN, Juanita Raines of Cookeville, TN, Peggy Raines of Old Hickory, TN, Cleda Raines of Monterey, TN, Randy and Sarah Reagan of Knoxville, TN, Susan Clark of Monterey, TN, Joel Reagan of Dickson, TN; a host of nieces and nephews including his special niece, Amanda Raines Johnson; and special friends, Tim and Debbie Stephens and the late Danny Clouse. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Thelma Walker, James Bud Raines, Jack Raines, Judy Hawkins, Tom Raines, Margaret Guffey, Dan Raines, and infant twins, Ricky and Vicky Raines. The family expressed special thanks to Hospice of Tennessee, Dr. Amy Hix and her staff, and a special thank you to Anita. In lieu of flowers, the family requested memorial donations be given to the Monterey High School Golf Team.
